Cryptic Relics, also known as Who Built This Ruin (ダレガタテタいせき), is the 6th level in Ape Escape and Ape Escape: On the Loose.

Description

Cryptic Relics is the third and final stage of the Mysterious Age/Cenozoic Era. Here Spike receives the Slingback Shooter from the Professor. As such there are many switches which need to be activated with the new gadget.

The stage is set at night on a dark ruin mounted on the side of a cliff. During a full moon with shooting stars bathing the level, Spike enters a large temple where Specter has taken control. The area is constantly surrounded in a cool mysterious glow, and is decorated with strange crystals and unintelligible inscriptions on the walls.

Go Catch 5 Monkeys!

Spike can choose from 7 out of the 8 Monkeys to catch to clear the stage, all of them accessible from the first visit, safe for Crash (Dibble), who's hiding in an unreachable cage.

Before entering the ruins themselves, Spike can climb the rotating stone platforms right at the start of the level and follow the path up to a cliffside where Bazzle (Miller) is resting. Be careful of the Hotties roaming there and time your jumps correctly to avoid falling off the stage. Freeto (Quiff) is behind a gate that can be lowered by pushing a nearby block into the switch on the floor near him.

Inside the temple much of the progress must be made by activating switches and spinning wooden wheels to open the doors to new sections of the ruin. In the last part with the River, to activate the last switch you must break the glass wall with three hits of the Stun Club.

Go Catch the Monkeys!

When you've successfully completed the City Park stage in Futurama and get the R.C. Car, you can go back to the cage where Crash is hiding and lure him out to catch him.

Specter Coins Locations

Ruin's Inside - At the indoor waterfall, jump in the water and take a left instead of heading outside. Climb the stone pole and you'll find the Specter Coin on a high ledge.
